The anti-aging effects of Ephedra have been observed by many ancient peoples, particularly the Chinese and Iranians. Ephedra is believed to be a candidate for the mythical herbal drug- Haoma. Haoma was believed to slow aging to the point in which it granted its users eternal life. Haoma was also believed to cure many diseases and generally enhance human life. Modern research on Ephedra's anti-aging effects show that it has direct actions on mitochondrion DNA in the cell.
